Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view: Major packages only (52) All tracked packages (226)
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

BunsenLabs has been a real experience for me since coming to Debian, have installed earlier releases but quite happy with Helium-5.

Pros: Very fast, responsive with moderate ram usage.
Theming and icons are not my favorite but easily fixed.
Good assortment of apps for the noob to use

Cons: A little overweight with applications, the user should decide on some, not everyone uses those.
Systemd

Overall now my daily driver, look forward to next release. Easily customized and quite easy to install. Love the forum with some very knowledgable folks and friendly.

Excellent speed and doing. Bad No tor Browser already to installs and go! and I had a problem with the dracut display showing corrupt entry that would not let the grub boot up. Pity I wanted to used it more until this error will not allow to fix. The system needs a snapshot quick fix to remove this. Or you have to start from scratch. It needs more Hacking tools. A tool like Cuckoo install, suricata latest versions, a honeypots, and qiuck respond to fix and remove errors in the software. Do this and it will be well!

BL is highly configurable ,lightweight (122 RAM usage in live mode), responsive, fast and stable distro. It is quite under-rated. It should be in top 20 distros. I customized it and now it looks so awesome. Jgmenu is available in repository and you can even add menu to the panel. You can edit rc.xml and reconfigure openbox. Beautiful tints a.k.a. panels are available in menu as well. I'm using it along with Debian XFCE in dual-mode. I have been using both distros for 10 months. I have low specs computer with 1GB RAM and I never killed any window while using it.
