Heretix
Heretix (formerly known as Rubyx) was a young GNU/Linux distribution managed entirely by heretix, a Ruby script. Heretix boasts a clean design and a pragmatic package handling concept. It was not a "point-and-click" distribution, but it was easy to use for everyone who was not afraid of the shell. And Heretix was written in readable Ruby code, offering every user the opportunity to understand how their system works.

The beta version of Linux Deepin 10.12, an active community Linux distribution aimed at a highly localized Chinese desktop based on Ubuntu, has been released after two alpha builds and with quite a few exciting features. OpenOffice.org has been replaced with the 2009 personal edition of Yozo Office, a domestic and fully functional office suite with the look and feel from Microsoft Office. The input method is switched to "Yong" and ibus, the former of which is less known but found to be very convenient; please check its manual page to get started. Firefox and Google Chrome are both extended with Easy Link, so that the browser can also handle download links dedicated for Thunder and FlashGet. Wine is added and configured, where the domestic instant messenger QQ is accommodated. See the full release announcement (in Chinese) for more information and a few screenshots. | deepin (formerly, Deepin, Linux Deepin, Hiweed GNU/Linux) is a Debian-based distribution (it was Ubuntu-based until version 15 released in late 2015) that aims to provide an elegant, user-friendly and reliable operating system. It does not only include the best the open source world has to offer, but it has also created its own desktop environment called DDE or Deepin Desktop Environment which is based on the Qt 5 toolkit. Deepin focuses much of its attention on intuitive design. Its home-grown applications, like Deepin Software Centre, DMusic and DPlayer are tailored to the average user. Being easy to install and use, deepin can be a good Windows alternative for office and home use.

deepin is a Debian-based distribution featuring the custom Deepin desktop environment and associated tools. The project has published a new stable release, deepin 15.11. The new version features a Cloud Sync feature in the control panel and introduces the ability to burn optical media through the distribution's file manager. "Welcome to deepin 15.11 release. Compared with deepin 15.10, deepin 15.11 comes with new features - Cloud Sync in Control Center and disc burning function in Deepin File Manager. A new stable version of deepin, a Debian-based desktop distribution featuring the Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE), is now ready for download. This release downgrades the system to Debian's stable branch, but users who are on deepin 15.9 (based on Debian "Testing") can continue using it as usual. However, deepin 15.10 is now the recommended variant as it includes long-term support. From the release announcement: "Compared with deepin 15.9, deepin 15.10 introduces new functions such as files on desktop auto merge, wallpaper slideshow, separate switches for system sound effects, and supports dragging the tray icon out in fashion mode. In addition, many bugs have been fixed and the existing functions optimized. Besides that, deepin 15.10 is newly built and released using Debian stable repository, in this way, system stability and security is greatly improved, bringing users more stable and efficient experiences. The unstable repository will continue to be maintained for the next three months. deepin 15.10 is released in both stable and unstable editions. Stable edition users can update from 15.9.2 beta to deepin 15.10, or install from the 15.10 ISO image. Unstable edition users can get deepin 15.10 through a system update." A new version of deepin, a Debian-based distribution featuring the Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE), has been released. Version 15.8 brings a re-designed control centre, a full disk encryption installation option and various other improvements and bug fixes: "Compared with deepin 15.7, the ISO image size of deepin 15.8 has been reduced by 200 MB. The new release features newly designed control center, dock tray and boot theme, as well as improved native applications, hoping to bring users a more beautiful and efficient experience. Dock - fashion or efficient mode. In fashion mode, a hide/show button is added in the new designed dock tray, click it to hide the icons in tray area and save the dock space. And the power button is separated from the tray area to reduce the clicks and to avoid the function confusion. The deepin project has published a new release of its Debian-based distribution featuring the Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE). The project's latest release, deepin 15.7, focuses on optimizations and reduces the size of the distribution's ISO, and lowers memory consumption and power consumption. "To reduce power consumption of laptop, 'power saving mode' is added in deepin 15.7. Your laptop can enter power saving mode automatically when using battery. In this way, laptop standby and working time is increased. Preliminary tests show that in our test environment, standby time is extended 20%. deepin 15.7 has made a series of adjustments and optimizations in memory usage. In the standard configuration, the boot memory has decreased from 1.1 GB to 830 MB, and reduced to less than 800 MB on a discrete graphics card. Adjustments and optimizations for other functional modules have been made as well. deepin is a Debian-based Linux distribution which strives to provide an attractive and user-friendly experience via the Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE). The project's latest release, deepin 15.6, features a new welcome window and a quick settings navigation bar. There is also a new launcher window, designed to use less screen space along with a new user's manual. "The newly added welcome program demonstrates and guides deepin personalization. When boot after deepin installation, the welcome program will be automatically shown, playing video introduction and guiding you to set desktop mode and icon theme, which can be opened later by clicking "dde-introduction" icon in Launcher. The navigation bar sticks on the left of the Control Center. Click the module icon on the left to quickly skip to the settings you want, no need to scroll up and down any more. Moreover, display scaling function is integrated in Control Center for HiDPI screens. The new version, deepin 15.4.1, provides mostly minor updates over the previously released 15.4 branch. Despite a minor increment in the version number (from 15.3 to 15.4), this is a major release with many improvements and package upgrades: "deepin 15.4 has brand new design for Control Center and desktop.
